This morning I headed down to the Loews Coronado Bay Resort to pickup my packet for the Superseal triathlon. The saying goes, “Nothing new on race day.” However, since I’m using tomorrow as a training day, I’m taking the opportunity to try out a few new things.
First, breakfast. Pre-race breakfast in the past was a gluten-free waffle, half bagel, tortilla with peanut butter, or Clif bar. Tomorrow it will be a sweet potato with some almond butter. And possibly a banana closer to my wave start. I won’t be starting until 8:15, but probably leaving the house in the 5′s.
Second, new kit from Hi-Tech Bikes! I tried it on and it was pretty comfy. Very excited to try it out tomorrow along with some sweet new shades and support HTB.
Third, new running shoes! My Brooks Green Silences have been retired, and I’ll be taking the Saucony Kinvaras for a 10k spin.
“Runner-up” new item is my bike. I’ve ridden the new set-up a few times, and I’m definitely still getting used to the aerobars. Overall, I’m really looking forward to my first official race of 2013. Paul is more than excited to see Hines Ward race! My husband will be the one waving the Terrible Towel.
Wish me luck, after all the race is on St. Patty’s Day!
